End of semester again

1st semester of 2nd year.

The memory is still fresh in my mind when I first got into this school. It's just like yesterday but actually a year passed.

This semester is quite challenging. Assignments, hot weather (it's getting hotter!), a lot of rushing to classes etc... I have to say good bye with two of my close friends. Reluctant but nothing I can do. People come and go. I want to go for student exchange program too but when I think of this problem, it held me back. I don't want to be apart with anyone of my close friends.

I knew my EQ is very low. I've argued with somebody else. At last I realise that so stupid. Doesn't matter anymore who's right or wrong, but in the end I still have to rely on him and anger is not allowed in this instructor-student relationship. I regret after the matter, but what else can do? Things already happened, just take it as a lesson.

People grew up and things changed. People dreamed, but how many of them can reach the dream?

I truely believe that the more you want something, the bigger posibility you won't get it.

I earned my 1st money! Real life drowning case!

Yes, if I'm not mistaken today is the 1st day I earned money. Last time when I worked for my family business, I earned money from my family, and can a little bit manja with the family, so I consider that's not the money I fully earned or deserve. This morning I went to teach swimming for an hour, which earned me RM20.00! Even though it's not a big amount, but I'm happy because I deserved it. I woke up early in the morning, walked to the pool, sacrificed my skin under the hot sun, teaching 8-9 school kids and I earned the lovely RM20.00. Happy~~ Well, the money can make me survive for another... 3 days probably.

Somehow I wish to earn more money by my own and less depends on my mama. Since I can't work full time out there, teaching swimming is another alternative, and I love teaching swimming too. I can experience a lot of things. Such as this morning, I experienced a real life situation. Before this I never believe my captain's words "victims can drown in shallow water too". After this morning I believe he's right!

This is the story... A girl is panic of the water. After a few kicks with a kicking board, she start screaming in fear that she might not balance herself and the depth of the water (even though she can stood at there). Followed by screaming was struggling. When I see her like that I quickly swim to her and tried to tow her back to the very shallow end. But once I approached her, she grabbed me all around, grabbed my swimming cap, pulled my hair, push me down so she can break the surface (actually she's on the surface), I was kinda drowned but life saving skills (or swimming skills) saves me. I didn't kick her away as life saving thought because I'm afraid she's still a small kid and might drank a lot of water, so I just tow her back "underwater". After that I stood up, the water level is about at my waist, her leg was around my waist and the hand still holding my head (like a koala bear hugging a tree), now she's above the water level, a lot I mean, but she still screaming and struggling, holding my hair so thight. Wahahahahaha~~~

In those life saving practices and exams, we use "professional" victims as our partners, who knew how to perform, swims and acts well! But this is the 1st real life situation. I felt how the life savers save "real" drowning victims. I was a lil bit afraid by that time, it's human life! But my so-so swimming skills convinced me that I can do it.

So here's an advice for the people who read my blog. If you're not a good swimmer or life saver, please DO NOT attempt to save anyone who's drowning. They might drag you down and both of you just say bye bye to the world. For life savers, if you don't have confidence to save a struggling victim, either kick him/her away, let him/her struggle for a while, drink some water, waste the energy, and after that it's time to save!

Thanks to swimming skills and life saving course. After today's situation I love life saving more~ :P

Injured toes - poor pool condition

I got a cut at my toes by the broken tiles at swimming pool during duty slot, what a big present for me at the last day.

It just bleeded non stop, my friend cleaned and helped me to put on medicine on the wound, I thought it'll be OK. But this morning when I woke up it bleeded again, and now, it's bleeding too.

I'm so sick of the pool management by the school, I'm not the only one victim who injured because of the tiles, infront of my eyes, not included other people that I didn't see, I already witness 3 cases (include me) like this. One girl is more pity, she's one of the participant who did well in bronze med test, but because her leg was injured, she has to stop from the test.

The USM pool is so nice from outside, and now even renovating the toilets, but sadly those facts that harms the users never been fixed and just left there. Please upgrage the condition of the pool!!

The last day of lifeguard duty sem II, 07/08

Yesterday, Tuesday was the last day I duty at the pool for this semester (2nd semester of year 2007/08). I was at the 1st slot with Evan, Tze Nee & James.

I enjoyed the days with these guys, especially Evan, with him by our side we won't feel bored at all. He's a very good person to be with. Tze Nee, thank you because always willing to duty at the small pool (which most of the lifeguards refuse to, but seems like she enjoyed alot). James, better not to be late again for lifeguard activities and duty slots, receiving warning letters is not funny at all..

It's quite hard for me to leave the guys... Evan the captain, who's going to graduate soon, left a lot of good memories in my lifeguard life. He thought all of us new things, he's been a very good, dedicated and responsible captain, tried to solve every problem faced, and very serious, serious in enjoying and serious in leading the corps. I can't say this, but I can't expect any better captain in the next 2 years. Untill now I still see no members that have the personality he does. Thank you so much Evan.

I appreciate other seniors too.. YingQi, who really opened my eyes; Mun Pung, like an elder brother; Su Yin the beautiful lifeguard; Soon Jiun, who's like a senior and a friend; Hong En the funny guy; Su Fang the cutest and sunshine girl; Min Khiam the diam diam one; Soon Cien the cool guy but yet with a warm heart; Zi Xiang the younger brother; Kevin the most playful one; Lye Siong the cute one; Chin Teng my bronze med instructor; Cau Cieh my bronze cross instructor; James Chua the so called orang minyak..

My dear seniors, I apologize if I ever did something that made you unhappy. I hope that you all will have a bright future, good luck, and don't forget me! :P

Life saving - Bronze cross exam

Today I had my bronze cross exam at the pool, 12pm-5pm, the time where the sun is the most harmful to your skin at an OPEN POOL. We've been praying that it'll rain but nothing works. :P

The happy thing is, I completed all event without making major mistakes, a lil bit of minor mistakes due to never practice on it much, luckily got people reminded me, guide me all the time and the most important thing is no one reported me.

I think I did better than the mock test. There was a lot of things I need to re-do the last mock test but this time everything was just fine. I'm a lil bit satisfy of it.

Next semester will be Award & Distinction. It's way more harder than the 2 levels before because it's all about stamina & speed. I'm happy that I trained up myself this semester with freestyle and speed, and the swimming competition training helped me a lot too (even though I just went 3 times :P). So next sem I don't have to train up from 0. I'm looking forward to the higher level of life saving exam.
